Barber National Institute’s northwest Pennsylvania locations serve children, adults with intellectual disabilities, autism and behavioral health challenges, and their families, through person-centered programs, services and community outreach initiatives. Barber National Institute encourages every individual with disabilities to be actively involved in developing his or her plan for services while receiving the guidance and support of our qualified caregivers. Barber National Institute employs more than 2,700 dedicated staff who help to carry out our mission of providing hope and opportunity to individuals. Its nationally recognized Elizabeth Lee Black School provides educational programs to children from schools across northwest Pennsylvania.

The main campus of the Barber National Institute is the setting for the Elizabeth Lee Black School (approved private school;) a range of adult day programs and Small Group Employment; adult mental health partial program; community pool; gift shop; and administrative offices.
