The Barber National Institute provides structured residential living opportunities to adults and pre-adults with intellectual disabilities, autism and behavioral health needs. Throughout Erie County, a team of dedicated staff supports these residents within 55 group homes. Referrals in Erie County for residential services can be initiated through Erie County Care Management.

A community or residential group home is home in the community where a small group of adults with intellectual disabilities live in a family-like setting. Homes are located in neighborhoods across Pennsylvania and provide support to access resources in the community and to help build independent living skills.
Community group homes are for adults with intellectual disabilities, autism, and/or other behavioral health needs. Individuals qualify through a process established by Pennsylvania’s Office of Developmental Disabilities (ODP) and can contact Erie County Care Management for information.
