Social Safety Presentation Oct. 18th

Adults with autism, intellectual disabilities or other special needs often face unique dangers when they are out in the community or online. The Barber National Institute will offer a free presentation specially developed for adults to help them learn strategies for staying safe.

“Social Safety for Adults” will be held Wednesday, Oct. 18 from 5 – 6 p.m. in the Barber National Institute Forum.

Ann Ellison, a board certified behavioral analyst at the Barber National Institute with more than 20 years of experience, will present a program that addresses questions such as:

How do you know who is trustworthy?   How can you tell when someone is trying to take advantage of you? Where can you find help? Who is safe? Can I talk to people on line? What should I do when someone wants to borrow money?

The training will guide adults through creating their very own safety plan that can be revised whenever their needs change.   While the program is directed to adults with special needs, families and staff are welcome to attend.

RSVPs are appreciated to laurenglass@barberinstitute.org or 878-5903 by Oct. 13
