Students, adults and staff had lots of fun celebrating at the Founder’s Day picnic last Friday, September 14th at the Barber National Institute. The picnic is held each year in honor of the Institute’s founder, Dr. Gertrude A. Barber.
Children from the Elizabeth Lee Black School fed and visited with cuddly animals, like baby cows, chickens and bunnies at the Granny’s Ark Petting Zoo set up in the playground.
All enjoyed the delicious fall treats - pumpkin squares and apple juice! Many danced along to the live musical entertainment provided by “The Romantic Era” a band that includes staff of the organization.
