Chamber Orchestra Entertains & Educates
A Musical Petting Zoo with the Erie Chamber Orchestra was so successful when it was held last May that the organization has now planned monthly sessions with our students and faculty.
The first program, held on Sept. 30, featured accomplished violinists George Lyon and Louis Nicolia. The musicians held a concert in the Gym that showcased a broad range of music, from classical masterpieces to children’s favorites, and then went on to perform in several classrooms.
Preschool students had the opportunity to hold and play the violin, learning that the strings on the bow are made from horse hair and that the violin is anthropomorphous (shaped like a human form!).
Thanks to these gifted musicians for sharing their time and talents! We can’t wait for next month’s program with woodwinds!
