A call to always strive for the best was one of the messages brought by Fred Lokuta, deputy secretary of the Office of Developmental Programs, in his first visit to the Barber National Institute on Friday.

The Erie Maennerchor Club recently presented a $10,000 donation to the Dr. Gertrude A. Barber Foundation. The Pennsylvania Dept. of Public Welfare has formally approved Connections Camp for summer 2013 for children and young adolescents diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, Pervasive Development Disorder or High-Functioning Autism. In anticipation of Autism Month in April, the Barber National Institute will host Autism Awareness Day on Saturday, March 23, from 11:00 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Millcreek Mall.
