Erie Chamber Orchestra Brings Musical Petting Zoo

This was a petting zoo without cages, fences or even animals—yet was lots of fun!  The Erie Chamber Orchestra at Gannon University visited the Elizabeth Lee Black School last week to provide a “musical petting zoo” for students.  Musicians brought string and percussion instruments that students learned about and even had the opportunity to play. Classes rotated through four stations set up in the gym and library.

Musician Howard Lyon demonstrated the violin; Jennifer Jansen showed children the viola; Ruth Ann Scanzillo had a cello and Steve Weiser offered students an opportunity to experiment with percussion instruments.
