Art Show Awards Presented

    Awards were presented in the 2022 Jay & Mona Kang Virtual Art Show and Sale during a ceremony for winning artists on Wednesday, April 27 at the Barber National Institute. for.  The show is one of the region’s largest exhibits of area artists and features the work of more than 270 adult professional and amateur artists and youth artists from throughout the region. 

   A panel of judges from the community selected artwork to receive the Best of Show and Honorable Mention Awards in both the adult and youth categories.  The awards are sponsored by UPMC Hamot, UPMC Health Plan, and the Hamot Health Foundation.

Adult Artists

2022 Best of Show Awards

  • Best of Show Award - Brian C. Maloney, for the wire sculpture, “Pacing Lion”
  • Best of Show Award in Photography - Jacque Caringola for “Sunset Horseshoe Pond.”

 

2022 Honorable Mention Awards

  • Cathy Ferraro for “Kakaka Katie”
  • Cynthia Lyons, for “A Chaotic Discovery”
  • Francis Demaske for “St. Theodosius, Tremont, Ohio.” 

 

Youth Artists

2022 Best of Show Awards

  • Best of Show Award - Chase Elliott, a senior at Collegiate Academy, for his painting, “Wing-Side”
  • Best of Show Award in Photography - Sofia Masi, an 8th-grade student who attends the Neighborhood Art House, for “Lost in Translation”

2022 Honorable Mention Awards:

  •  Samantha Woods, an 11th-grade student at Iroquois High School, for “Skeleton Sam”
  • Yeslian Vargas, a ninth-grade student who creates art at the Neighborhood Art House, for “Honored Companion”
  • Nolan Elliott, a preschool student at Saint George School, for “A Giraffe.”
