Employee of the Month Somerset October

Congratulations to Susan Gorman, the Somerset campus Employee of the Month for October! Susan is a full time Community Supports Professional for the Somerset Adult Day Services program.   She continues to be a lead member of the document shredding department and spends many hours daily with adults processing paper to be shredded so that adults have a job that helps them earn money and be a vital part of the community.  She makes sure that everyone who wants to work gets a chance and keeps track of who has shredded each week so that anyone who did not get a chance has an opportunity.   Susan also takes a lot of time to train her individuals on sorting paper and running the tipper.  She never assumes that a certain individual will never learn a skill, she tries to teach them, and gives them opportunity to learn a new job skill in the shredding department.  With her busy schedule with paper shredding she finds a way to go on several outings each week and takes almost all the adults in our building, not just a select few.   Susan engages all individuals in healthy activities like nature walks, planting seeds, and weekly trips to the library to read books and movies.  She continues to take them to the local Humane Society to volunteer their talents. She makes sure the building is a safe and clean environment for the individuals she serves.  She also makes an extra effort to get them involved in card games like UNO, Wii games, and decorating the building for seasonal events.  Susan goes the extra mile and does not just meet expectations.  She has proven herself to be a valued part of our operation in Somerset.   She continues to show strides in completing valued documentation via the computer.   Susan treats each individual with respect and does not talk down to them.  Congratulations, Susan!
