Employee of the Month June Somerset

Sabrina Higgins-Kelly is a full time Community Supports Professional at Barber National Institute's Somerset campus.  Sabrina continues to find time in her busy schedule to take adults and collect plastic bags for recycling.  Teaching the importance of plastic recycling is very important to her and her group that collects the plastic.  Sabrina is a constant when it comes to advocating for the adult's wants and needs.  She continues to help adults with complex medical issues. She interacts with all adults in a way that is friendly and open.  Sabrina also can be counted on to take our non-ambulatory adults on the lift van out into the community safely.  The Program Specialists can rely on her for accurate assessments and information regarding the adults in our day program. Sabrina comes up with new ideas to make the adult's time at the day program more enjoyable and consumers enjoy the movies that they watch together.  She also comes up with many types of art projects and leads a group to be active outside such as watching the bubble machine or playing yard games to make them more active.   She is also skilled at multiple tasks and very flexible with her time.  She volunteers to switch her days off so that ratios are met as well as the health and safety of all the adults in our program.  This act was very beneficial to the Program Specialists as well as the Operation Manager.   She can be counted on to complete tasks directed to her by the Program Specialists and the Operations Manager.  Sabrina can handle challenging situations in a professional and positive manner.  She continues to work with all adults with great enthusiasm and many of the adults gravitate to her and her ideas whether they be in the facility or in the community.
