Elizabeth Lee Black School - Health & Safety Plan

In compliance with regulations from the Pennsylvania Dept. of Education, the Elizabeth Lee Black School has developed a detailed health & safety plan that was updated in January 2022. The plan, approved by the Barber National Institute Board of Directors, is available for viewing.

Quarantine and Isolation Guidelines

The CDC has issued new guidelines for persons who have a known exposure to Covid-19 or have tested positive.  Check the Recommendations for Covid-19 Contacts and Isolation Guidance for Positive Diagnosis.   

National Helpline Offers Support to Families and Caregivers

A new 24-hour support line has been established to help individuals with intellectual disabilities and those who care for them cope with issues related to the pandemic. The telehealth line, known as Project Connect, is free and available anytime for people with disabilities, their families, caregivers and other members of their support teams across the nation.

Project Connect is available by calling 888-847-3209. The helpline is developed by Arc of California and the Stony Brook University School of Social Welfare, and is staffed by graduate students at the school who are supervised by licensed social workers.

The Barber National Institute Pool remains closed until further notice. We will comply with recommendations issued by state and local authorities regarding the status of our pool and other facilities and will work to keep staff, families and the communities updated as more information becomes available.
