An Erie family and an Erie business with worldwide operations were honored with awards marking National Philanthropy Day on Tuesday, Nov. 15 A young teacher who wanted to be a missionary would go on to change the future for children and adults with intellectual disabilities and their families in her community and beyond Pennies, dimes, and quarters from students collected in Erie, PA is bringing relief to one of the most devastated areas of the world. Awards were presented in the 2022 Jay & Mona Kang Virtual Art Show and Sale during a ceremony for winning artists on Wednesday, April 27 at the Barber National Institute. The Barber National Institute received the Archbishop Oscar Romero Award from Mercyhurst University for “living the call of faith and justice in an extraordinary manner." The Bollinger Campus of the Barber National Institute and Barber Behavioral Health will join organizations in the Warren-Forest region for an Autism Awareness Event on Thursday, April 7. The event will take place at Holy Redeemer Church, 11 Russell Street in Warren, from 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Congratulations to O’Mari Dance, a student in the Elizabeth Lee Black School, who was one of 12 students selected for an international award from the Council For Exceptional Children (CEC). O’Mari received a 2022 “Yes I Can! Award” for his achievements in the area Transition,” recognizing his development academically, socially and emotionally as he grew into a young adult.Our Holiday Message
