Family and Community Support Services are expressions of the faith, hope and love portrayed by the three leaves of the Dr. Gertrude A. Barber National Institute shamrock logo. The shamrock symbolizes the conscientious professionalism that is the hallmark of services offered through the Barber National Institute in Erie, Pennsylvania.

What is Family Support Services?

Family Support Services at the Barber National Institute is a family driven program that assists eligible families in selecting and purchasing services that enhance the quality of life for their family member with special needs.

Our services and programs are designed to promote and support family unity by meeting the needs of children and adults with developmental disabilities.

Qualifying families are able to purchase the services necessary to help maintain their family member with developmental disabilities at home.
