Art Show Sponsors Awarded

Congratulations to Dr. Robert and Betsy Guelcher, who were honored with the Applause Award during “Fall for the Arts,” the annual ArtsErie meeting and Arts Appreciation Award Ceremony. The Guelchers, who are the major sponsors of the Barber National Institute’s annual community art show, “Celebrating the Possibilities,” were recognized at the event held Tuesday, October 30 at the Institute.

The Applause Award recognizes individuals whose outstanding volunteerism and contributions have supported the arts in the Erie community. The Guelchers’ commitment to the Art Show reflects their dedication to fostering the arts and their belief that the arts can enrich the lives of everyone.

“We have realized that this is an event where we can really see the results of the efforts of all of the artists, and we wanted an opportunity to be a part of it,” said Betsy Guelcher. With their philanthropic support, the Guelchers ensure that the Art Show continues to be available for individuals with disabilities, as well as for all artists in the community.

In addition to the Barber National Institute, the Guelchers also fund arts programs in the community including those at the Erie Playhouse, Mercyhurst University, Erie Historical Museum and the Jefferson Society. 

The 2013 Dr. and Mrs. Robert Guelcher Art Show will be held in April in celebration of Autism Awareness Month.
