As the Barber National Institute celebrates the 100th birthday of its founder, Dr. Gertrude A. Barber, we are honoring our history of success and investing in our future. Significant financial support from our friends in the community is necessary to ensure that Dr. Barber's mission, which began in 1952, continues to grow and thrive in the 21st century.
Dr. Barber's work began with a handful of students in a single borrowed classroom. Today, the nationally-recognized facility that bears her name serves more than 3,600 children and adults throughout the state of Pennsylvania, in Erie, Girard, Corry, Warren, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia. With a world-renowned reputation, the Barber National Institute serves as a teaching resource for professionals around the country and globe.
The Dr. Gertrude A. Barber Legacy Society was established in August 2007 to recognize those generous supporters who have made a planned gift to the Dr. Gertrude A. Barber Foundation. Charter membership in the society is currently being granted to donors who have notified us that they have included the Dr. Gertrude A. Barber Foundation in their estate plans. You can become a member of the Dr. Gertrude A. Barber Legacy Society simply by notifying us that you have included the Dr. Gertrude A. Barber Foundation in your will or made provisions to turn over an existing insurance policy to the Dr. Gertrude A. Barber Foundation or through a gift of property.
As Dr. Barber recognized the potential in all persons, members of her Legacy Society recognize the potential of the future and want to help in meeting the challenges and opportunities that are sure to unfold in fulfilling her vision. Your gift will sustain important work that will truly make a difference in the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities. Your commitment today to the Dr. Gertrude A. Barber Legacy Society will truly Make dreams come true.
