ASERT Support for Physicians & Medical Professionals
Regional Centers for Autism Services, Education, Research and Training (ASERT) have been established throughout Pennsylvania by the Department of Public Welfare. The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), in collaboration with the Dr. Gertrude A. Barber National Institute, is the ASERT Center for Pennsylvania’s Western Region.
As the ASERT Centers work to enhance the lives of children and adults living with Autism Spectrum Disorders, they serve as a resource for primary care physicians in Pennsylvania.
This section of Autism Insight will be updated with references, professional journal articles and other resources that are provided to physicians to support them in the delivery of quality health care services. The Autism Speaks 100 Day Kit is created specifically for
newly diagnosed families, to make the best possible use of
the 100 days following the diagnosis of autism. Families
whose children have been diagnosed with autism within the
past 6 months, and are age 5 or younger, may request
a complimentary 100 Day Kit after completing a survey
for recently-diagnosed families.
