Community Group Homes - Southeast PA

Community Group Homes

The Barber Institute operates 25 group homes in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas. The community homes enable small groups of individuals to reside together, sharing their homes and building relationships with each other and staff. Individuals are provided with 24-hour a day care by caring professionals who assist in developing a person centered program designed on each person’s preferences, needs and goals.

Using a person-centered approach, each consumer in our program participates in the development of his or her own personal plan for services and receives the guidance and support of our qualified care givers. Our consumers are encouraged and supported to live an active and fulfilling life, exploring new and interesting activities of their choice. Individualized plans are based upon the needs, wants, goals and aspirations unique to each person. The consumer is surrounded by a support team that includes the direct service professionals, nurses, behavior therapists, supervisors, administrative staff and a Primary Care Physician who coordinates any other services the person may need. Our program offers a twenty-four hour on-call system for supervisor, administrative and nursing services to ensure that consumers, employees and families can be supported when the need arises.

Some of the programs and activities offered in the residential program include:
